10 HELP FOR INDEX CD-ROM DISK This is the "Heart" of the CDIX program. Selecting this option will begin a series of operations which allow you to easily copy programs from a CD disk to your hard drive or floppy. CDIX reads the common indexing schemes used by several CD disk manufacturers to generate a list of files along with their descriptions. Some important assumptions are made: 1) You are using a standard CD-ROM drive with MSCDEX. 2) The CD disks contain the proper indexing scheme. (A message will appear if CDIX cannot find one.) 3) Your computer is normal, meaning that your setup is assumed to be standard. CDIX may not be able to read "odd" configurations. (Sorry!) #(END OF HELP 1) HELP FOR RESETTING PARAMETERS CDIX relies on accurate ~SYSTEM~ information to operate properly. Often, events will occur which confuse the program. We added this function to allow you to RESET the initial parameters used by CDIX. Hopefully, you will not ever need this function but if "unexplained" events start happening, you may wish to select this option. NOTE: Selecting this option does NOT reset your computer but rather gives CDIX the opportunity to reanalyze your computers' ~SETUP~. #(END OF HELP 2) TITLE FOR HELP 3 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TEN LINES 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 TWENTY LINES 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 THIRTY LINES 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 FORTY LINES 1 2 3 4(MAXIMUM) #(END OF HELP 3) TITLE FOR HELP 4 I WONDER IF ~HIGHLIGHTING~ WORKS? The ~DRIVE LIST~ will report the most current information CDIX has. Thus, if you copy a big file to your hard drive, the ~DRIVE LIST~ will reflect those changes. In addition, CDIX reports special ~NOTES~ like "No Disk Present". NOTE: ~F7~ key will print this list. (If printer available) #(end of help 7) HELP FOR FILE SELECTION Depending on the type of Index file used, a screen will be displayed with file names and descriptions. By placing the ~HIGHLIGHT~ bar on the file name or the description and pressing ENTER, the ~COPY BOX~ will appear. You can then copy the selected file.
